Hooray - Spring is finally here in Juneau! Mark and I have been getting outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. The following pics are from last Saturday (I know I am behind in posting pics!) at the Mendenhall Glacier. The lake is thawing quickly so we took a walk around the lake out to the waterfall.
Please excuse the goofy look on my face :) The sun is so bright on this trail with snow everywhere! Plus when it is sunny in Juneau we don't quite know what to do with ourselves!! Yes, that is a winter coat and stocking hat on me - it may be sunny but it is still cold!!
Oh isn't he cute! He gave up the camera for a second to let me take his picture!!
Our friends Angie, Louis and Alexis (see her purple hat poking out of Daddy's coat!) Joined us on our walk.
And we made it! Th waterfall looks pretty small now - we'll have to show you a summer time picture!
This is Thunder Mountain - we live at the bottom of this mountain. At the very top of the mountain can you see that lovely lip of snow?? That is new this year - we are waiting for it to come on down - it is going to create a very loud, very exciting avalanch! Thankfully between the bottom of the mountain and our place is a very large ravine, no snow should ever get even close to our place :) But it is pretty sweet to watch avalanches come down through your kitchen window!
