At the beginning of December Mark and I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona. I was attending a conference for work and Mark was tagging along. On the way down we dropped the kidos off at my parents house! We are so thankful they (and Chelsea) were able to watch the kids for us. That was the first time we have left the kids to go on vacation, weird! Before we get to the Arizona pictures here are a few of the kids.
Andrew being the happy Mandrew he is!
Andrew and his friend Brew. . . they are best buds :)
Caitlin and her new hat from Aunt Amy and new vest from Aunt Shannon!!
Pretty girl in pink!!
Here we go . . . the first night we arrived in Arizona at the Biltmore Hotel.
It was a little dark but, the place was decorated beautiful for the holidays. There is a fountain behind us that was lit up.
Mark kept busy while I was in meetings - the first full day we were there, he hiked out to Piestewa Peak. It was so hot (normally 75 degrees) for us Alaskans ;)
He found a rattlesnake (don't worry it was dead!)
At the top!
This is Camelback . . . I'll tell you about this place in a moment.
On Thursday Mark went to pick up our rental car, he was a little excited about it!
The Christmas tree out front of our hotel.
Mark, the Mustang and the hotel~
I loved the cactus - they were huge and basically everywhere!
On Friday after the last meeting Mark and I decided to hike up Camelback - couldn't be too bad right?!?

On Friday after the last meeting Mark and I decided to hike up Camelback - couldn't be too bad right?!?Yeah, it was a butt kicker! It was 75+ degrees outside which is a bit different than the Juneau weather we are used too. Plus, this was like rock climbing, hand over foot! We made it to the first ledge and decided it would be safest if we ended our hike at this point! It was beautiful for sure~
The remaining part of the hike, the part we'll try again next time!
On Saturday we headed out early for a road trip to the Grand Canyon. We took the long way from Phoenix through Sedona. The red rocks were beautiful to see with the top down.
Pit stop in Sedona to enjoy the view~
Note to self, remember to put in a hair tie before driving with the top down!
We continued on our way (top down and all) through the mountains and felt right at home with the snow on the ground!
We made it!
Need I say more :)
First picture we took before letting Mark look over the ledge!
And then it hit him. He now knows he is not a fan of steep cliffs and while being at the Grand Canyon there were steep cliffs everywhere!
We did see a little wild life along our drive around the canyon rim.
Mark did get better along the drive - he liked the rails :)
Amazing views all the way around!
And there was the weather - looks warm huh?!? Well it was 40 degrees! Yep, top down, heaters blasting at full capacity and Mark in shorts :)
Awwww. . . the cute couple!
It was an incredible day spent together!
On Sunday we met my parents at the SeaTac Airport to pick up the kids, we spent a little time in the play area before leaving on our flight~
Burn some energy!
Again, many thanks to Grammy and Papa for watching the kids and to Chelsea for helping on her Christmas break!
