Mark and I joined a bunch of our friends last night (the 3rd) out at the end of Douglas Island to hunker down for the fireworks at midnight to ring in the 4th! The City of Juneau puts on a huge fireworks display over the channel (so in the picture below close to where the cruise ship is sitting - a large barge sits and fireworks off into the air). At about 8:30pm we joined our friends for good snacks, a fire pit and good times right on the channel! Plus the weather was half way decent, it stayed dry until about 11pm and then it rained.
Mark was taking care of the fire for us.

(Sorry some of the pictures of fireworks are a bit blurry - sometime when they are moving my camera has a hard time.) But you can see it does get dark in Juneau at night especially when it is cloudy!!

That is so cool! Last night some of the VanDalens went to Maberrys for the fireworks show and it was awesome! Marty Maberry puts it on for all his workers and it was so much fun! Paul and Bri even made it from CA! Bummer for the rain though, we had blue skies till 8:30/9! IT was the first in many years! Sounds like everybody had a great 4th!!!
