Last Monday was an Alaska State Holiday - Alaska Day - so I had the day off from work. Mark had to work early in the morning but got off in enough time for us to go to the Twin Lakes Park and DIPAC. Caitlin loves this park and goes on just about everything. It has quite a bit to do.
Running from Dad in the maze
Across the tightrope (she has pretty good balance!)
Dad bouncing her high in the air
Making her way across
And the tire swing - I was a little worried about this one (she is my little baby girl still!) but according to Dad they have done this before. . .

It has started to get a little cooler here in Juneau and after about an hour Mom was ready to go inside. So we headed to DIPAC (Douglas Island Pink and Chum) Hatchery. They have real fish ladders from the ocean into this fish hatchery and the fish were still coming while we were there.
Inside they have a few aquariums filled with Alaskan fish / sea creatures and touch tanks for the kids to feel some of the animals. Caitlin kept saying "don't touch" at the touch tank and wouldn't feel anything - I think we said "don't touch" one too many times on the fish tanks. . . .

Checking out the fish tanks
On the way out of DIPAC they have this statute of a sow (mama bear) and 3 cubs (baby bears). Caitlin is in love with bears right now and wouldn't take her eyes off of them. She calls every bear a panda bear.
On Thursday I took the day off of work and Thursdays are Mark's regular day off to watch Caitlin. We decided that it would be a good idea to go for a walk at the Mendenhall Glacier. We walked out the path to the view point, headed up to the visitor's center for a little elevator ride and coloring, and then back to the car. I heard some really weird noises (the sounds of a dying cat are what came to my mind) coming from the stream area so of course Mark had to go and check it out. There was a sow with 2 cubs hanging out by a pond eating sockeye fish! We watched for a while from the car and then after a forest services survey were headed back home. Well - as we turned the corner there was the sow and cubs crossing the street right in front of us!
