Making Memories

My sister Tasha, her husband Trevor and two boys Brock and Bryce came to visit us the last week in July for a long weekend. We had such a great time with all of the kids - they kept us very busy! They arrived on Wednesday and we just spent the afternoon hanging out at the house letting the kids play. On Thursday Mark, Trevor, Brock and Caitlin headed out fishing! They headed out to Hannis Reef which is quite a boat ride. Fortunately when they came the weather was beautiful and warm so the boat ride wasn't too rough!
They caught halibut, shrimp, king crabs and salmon! Brock had an excellent time. poor Caitlin was a bit under the weather but did come out on deck for part of the time. I had to work on Thursday so Tasha braved the two younger kids Bryce and Andrew! SHE IS AMAZING!!
I have a lot of pictures here so get ready. . . .
Brock with the King Crab - look at that grin!
Caitlin having issues with her hair on the boat- such a girl!
Beautiful!
Tasha, Bryce, Andrew and myself headed downtown to get out of the house while they were gone fishing. We headed to see the cruise ships and walk around. Bryce LOVED the boats (he repeated "Boat" over and over and over!
My sister Tasha and nephew Bryce~
Boat!
So much energy in such a little guy!! Off to see the boat!
The haul!
Cousins!!
Caitlin taught Brock how to pull the heads off the shrimp!
They did such a great job too~Dinner of King Crab!!
On Friday we took the kids to the Twin Lake Park . . First though Mark took Caitlin and Brock fishing on the dock.
Andrew and Bryce hanging out watching all the excitement.
Ready to fish!
Are they in there??
My pretty girl!
He got one!! It was a baby salmon and he even reeled it in!Soon we were off the the park - I am not sure what happened but I only took one whole picture at the park - Bryce!!
After the park we headed to DIPAC (fish hatchery) to check out some fish and the aquarium
Here is the whole gang checking out the fish ladder.
Too cute kids!!
They have a touch tank where you can feel different animals that are in the ocean.
Caitlin, Mark, Brock and Trevor - all in on the action!
We headed out for lunch at Bullwinkle's Pizza and later that night went for a walk out at the Mendenhall Glacier.
The Lankhaar Family
Checking out the glacier ice . . .
It was an interesting walk out to the waterfall with some very tired kids.
They did good, it was just musical kids as far as carrying them goes.
Brock and Caitlin checking out the streams/waterfalls.
Caitlin (tired girl!) and her Daddy
At one point all kids were up on backs/shoulders :)
Uncle Mark and Brock with his treasures to bring home (long pieces of grass and rocks!)
We made it! I love this picture, everyone is running to the glacier - even Bryce at the bottom right hand corner of the picture. Brock even has the leash with Brew!
Tasha and Bryce checking out the waterfall.
Bryce headed in the water, Trevor there just in time, Mark throwing rocks with Brock, Tasha and the dog taking pictures and Caitlin. . . .

Off in her own world!! She was our little wanderer :)
Saturday we attempted to take all four adults and all four kids on the boat for a little fishing adventure!
Trevor and Bryce ready to go!
Tasha and Andrew!
Caitlin ready for the crabs!
Bryce did great - checking everything out on the boat.
Trevor and the first fish on the boat!
Bryce loved this fish, it was the 6 inch baby fish we caught that freaked him out!!
The by some miracle we had two kids sleeping at the same time - Caitlin and Bryce!!
Brock checking out the squirms!
Tasha, myself and the kids made it until about 2pm and then the boys dropped us off and headed back out fishing.
The kids found Caitlin's dress up box - dresses, shoes, jewelry and babies! Brock and Caitlin were set - and might I add, by their own choice!
So beautiful!
It was too cute - Brock really got into it! I think we'll need more visits!
Sunday morning we took it easy and let the kids play for a bit. Then headed out to Eagle Beach.
There is a lot of sand for the kids to dig around in. We had a picnic and then played in the sand. Trevor was awesome at making sand castles for the kids.

Mandrew playing in the grass. . . no sand for this guy to eat!
Then we went for a walk out on the beach while the tide was low. The tide goes out really far and there are mud pits. Of course the kids found those first - we lost boots, socks but didn't ever fall in!
I didn't realize I got this picture until the other day when I was loading pictures on the computer - Brock got really stuck in the mud and was loosing his boots. . . not a happy kid!!

After we got out of the mud and hearded the kids in the other direction they did great. It was a nice long walk to wear the kids out. We ended at the water where Bryce and Brock got to play in the mud/water and throw rocks. Uncle Mark joined us at that point (he had to work in the morning).
Tasha and I took the kids home to play and get ready for dinner with the Corcoran's - again I wasn't really on it with the camera and didn't get any of those pictures!
On Monday they headed back home. We are so happy they came! It was an excellent trip and everything could not have gone better!
