September Brings New Adventures & Friends

At the beginning of September Mark found a great deal on 2 used kayaks - a single (red) kayak and a double (yellow) kayak~ This was our next big adventure! Out at Lena Cove/Beach we took the red one for a test ride in the sunshine while enjoying a BBQ on the beach. Mark was quite the explorer and even going up small creeks with Caitlin on board :)I took a turn with Caitlin - she was hooked! That was until I put my back to a ferry wake and headed up on shore. . . . we ended up a little wet!Mark heading out for another ride on the glass water!Andrew isn't quite sure of these small boats and didn't want anything to do with getting inside of one :) Maybe next year!We also headed out into the rain (yep the next days were a down pour!) out the Windfall Lake Trail. Caitlin all geared up and ready to go!Kind of a blurry picture, sorry! Mark and Andrew heading down the trail with snacks in hand :)Mark and I also headed out on a 6 mile kayak ride one Sunday afternoon. My cousin Jordie came over to babysit the kids for a bit and off we headed. We left out of Auke Rec and kayaked around Coglin (sp?) Island and back to Auke Rec. I will admit, on our regular boat this seems like a MUCH quicker/shorter boat ride. . . in a kayak, it is a really long way to go! The island is a lot bigger than I remembered -LOL! We took a break half way around the island. We are really going to enjoy these kayaks - they are a blast! Then my brother-in-law Trevor Lankhaar came to visit us! He brought two friends - Matt and Mark to spend a few days fishing. The weather wasn't the greatest at times but boy did Trevor catch a beast - 77 pounds and 54 inches - way to go Trevor! Here was Matt with his salmon and halibut :)
(Sorry Mark - I didn't get any pictures of you!! Next time!)
And Trevor back at home with his monster halibut :)
We had a blast with you guys and you are welcome to our home again anytime you'd like to come fishing or visit! Thanks for being such fun and awesome guests~
