This is Thunder Mountain. We live right at the base of this mountain, you can actually walk from our house to the trail and hike up to the top. . . well in July we decided to do just that. Danelle, Mark, Caitlin, Andrew (in the pack on Mark's back) and me. The weather was pretty good, not raining and we had plenty of time. So off we go.
It was a little thick with bushes on the trail. . . can you find Danelle??!!
It was a little harder than we though. . . but there were still smiles!
Are we there yet??

Waiting for her classmates and her teacher. . . .
A friend and her practice their moves!

Let's just say we didn't quite make it to the top, not quite halfway either. Apparently we weren't quite on the right trail and were making our own trail after a while. According to my little gps tracker we hiked for 3 hours and 40 minutes, up 892 feet in elevation, for a total round trip hike of 3.12 miles. To some this might not sound like much but remember - no trail so we were making our own pathway up the side of a mountain, everything is wet from the rain so we were soaked, Mark was packing Andrew, who isn't a little guy and I ended up packing Caitlin part way up and back down.
Next time, we will take the back side of the mountain trail. . . apparently it's a little more "sloped" up hill and not strait up :) Bonus, it has a clearly marked trail!
Caitlin also started dance class this year! She is in a class for 3-5 year olds, appropriately titled "Creative Movement" :)

First day of class and she is set!

On day 2, Caitlin's friend Alexis joined her class!
Here was even a special snack after each class!
Family Photo op!
These types of pictures take planning. . . not really but I try. We recruited my sister Danelle and headed out the Airport Dike Trail one Sunday afternoon. Thanks for your help Danelle! We actually took a normal picture!
These kids love having their Auntie Danelle around!
