Our Tiny Dancer - July 2011 (Part 3)

As I mentioned earlier, Caitlin is enrolled in a dance class for 3-5 year old, appropriately named "Creative Dance". The class is closed off to the parents with the exception of one class a month. In July, after her first full week of classes, I finally was able to watch what they were learning. The theme for the day was motion - free flowing and confined.

Here they were supposed to stay within their volcano's (hula hoops) and dance with their scarves~ This was an example of confined movement.Next they moved around the room, following their teacher~ An example of free flowing movement.Back to the volcano's!And running free!Another example of confined motion - hard to move when your attached to a friend!Time for some review :) They sing a series of songs or riddles for warm up and practicing their movements.

This is Humpty Dumpty - rocking back and forth with legs in a certain position.
This is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - at the end they fall flat on their backs.
Caitlin practicing their gallops, leaps and skips across the floor. When they get to the end of the room they have to bow to the teacher :)
I am sure we'll be back with more dancing pictures - her classes go through December and each month their is a parent visit day!
