Earlier this month we had really low (negative) tides in Juneau. It's a month with an "R" in it so that means time to clam dig! Mark and his friend Ty went digging one evening during the week - they both came home with a haul~
Pretty big! (That's my hand as a comparison)
Smoked clams on the shell~
We decided it would be fun to go as a family on the weekend. My hunter, fisher, gather man all ready for clam digging action~
Caitlin was ready too - she had her rake, hoe and shovel!
Andrew was very excited to help pick up rocks and clams - at first . . .
See Mom - it's a clam!
Then he realized his hands were getting dirty and that was pretty much the end of that!
We did pretty good, I'd say! Clam chowder anyone??
Caitlin and Mark cleaning off the clams and getting fresh water for the truck ride home.
It was a lot of fun - I'll admit it though, it was hard work. I was sore in a few places I didn't anticipate being sore :) Totally worth it!
Cheese!
Here's to more adventures this year!
