Taku Harbor & the Tiger Olsen Cabin (July 2012)

Picking flowers for Mom at the Tiger Olsen Cabin!
The weekend after the 4th of July we headed South of Juneau to the Taku Harbor and stayed at the Tiger Olsen Cabin for a few nights.
It was very peaceful but also busy with a lot of boats anchoring up each night on the large dock.
Caitlin LOVED the rope swing!

View from the cabin out to the water~

After getting settled in the camp we tried to put the kids down for a nap. And Mark headed out fishing. Well the kids didn't nap (too much excitement!) and so we found the cool swing! This swing was made for everyone - including Mom and Dad!
Not five minutes after getting the fishing pole into the water - Mark had a salmon on the rod! You could hear him hollering all the way back at camp :)
Caitlin was so excited about this fish!
She even helped her Dad clean it.
The next day the weather was pretty windy and wet - so after trying to fish and heading back in - we went exploring! We showed Dad the swing.
Found some old cannery buildings~
And cannery equipment~
Checked out the old trails and docks~
Even found an old boat up in the woods!
Here are more old cannery buildings that are actually being used today!
We did some beach combing under the old pilings where the dock once was.
It just feels like you are in the middle of no where sometimes!
Andrew and Dad
Me!
Andrew was very excited about this little wheeled wagon the State provides to haul your gear from the dock, along the trail up to the cabin. He pushed, pulled, filled it, emptied it, rode in it and more.
We had some left over fire works and gave all the boats in the harbor a show!!
Of course they love the sparklers!
And each other!!
