Trucks N Stuff

The City and Borough of Juneau put on the third annual Day of Play on Saturday. They hold a whole bunch of activities across Juneau - multiple free swims, ice skating sessions, museums, scavenger hunts, open gyms, and more. Our favorite is the Trucks N Stuff. The first thing we found was a fire truck - it was really loud with kids inside able to honk horns and turning on the sirens. In addition they had a water hose going and let the kids hold the hose. Caitlin and Andrew didn't want to get inside due to the noise!
Checking out the grader~
She found the horn . . .

Some type of dumper!

The bobcat! This was Andrew's favorite for the rest of the day!

They had a second firetruck with a ladder - kids were able to move the ladder and extend it out.

Mini excavator!

Look at that smile!

A mega sized snow blower!

Almost as tall as the tire on the grader :)

Did you know the street sweeper has two steering wheels?!!

Cement Truck (brand new by the way, the driver was telling me how it was good the kids were inside pushing buttons - test out that warranty!! This was crazy to me. . . )

City Bus, Eagle Crest snow bus and cement pump!

Checking out the bus.

~Driving the Eagle Crest snow bus~

She was cracking me up "everyone take your seats"and "no monkey business back there"  LOL where does she get this stuff, it's not like we take the bus ever! Although I am thinking we might soon, this was a hit!

She found the windshield wipers!

Another picture of the snow blower - we had to revisit some of these machines.

Up there pretty high! We learned the rules of turning around when coming down the ladder of these big rigs quickly.

There was also a helicopter!

Six kids inside all talking to each other over headsets!
These are the coolest! We might have to invest in walkie talkies :) Of course we had to stay late and watch all of the equipment drive away and watch the helicopter fly off.
They also had the police departments emergency vehicle which I didn't get pics of. This event is a hit with the kids. Once again the City did a great job and we look forward to next year!!
